Security World's 24-Hour Monitoring

Selecting a security company to install a security system and monitor the system for communications signals is a complex decision. You must look at pricing, quality, reliability, and the freedom you have to change your mind if service is not as promised. Please read below about Security world’s monitoring quality, pricing, communication alternatives, and equipment.

Monitoring Station Quality

Security World’s monitoring station is over 30 years old and is in Houston, U.L. Rated and fully computerized. ADT and Brinks have monitoring stations in Dallas, TX. We believe you are better served by a local monitoring station whose employees know Houston.
Security World’s record with the Better Business Bureau since 1983 speaks for the quality of our monitoring station. We have no complaints on record. In 1993 Security World management was asked by the Better Business Bureau to help write an educational brochure on security systems and 24-hour monitoring station features.

Security World does not require a three-year contract that you cannot break without severe financial penalties even if the service is poor. With Security World’s purchase plan you can change your mind and have someone else service or monitor the security system at any time. Brinks installs equipment that only Brinks can service or monitor. ADT requires a three-year plan. Security World installs national brand equipment used by other major security companies, so you can call other companies for service or monitoring.

If you are not satisfied with speed of Security World’s first monitoring station, you can change to Security world’s other monitoring station in Houston or to the competition. Brinks’ and ADT’s monitoring station is in Dallas and if you’re with Brinks, you cannot get another company to work on Brinks equipment. Brinks does not tell you that in advance.

Monitoring Prices

With our basic monitoring, which includes burglary, panic, and low battery protection, the monthly rate is as low as $15 when you purchase the system! You will save as much as $900 to $1400 over five years compared to the competition’s lease purchase monitoring price with its high monitoring rate of $30 to $35 per month with financing in it (see below).

Do you know why Security World’s monitoring price is so much lower? The other companies lower the initial installation charge and the customer pays for the lower installation price with financing in the high-priced monitoring fee. After the first three years and the financing is paid off, the other security companies do not remove the financing and that is not fair! If you finance with Security World, Security World’s higher-price monitoring with financing in the monitoring price is lowered after three years because the financing is removed. Security World’s purchase plan with a low monitoring price has no financing in it (see below)

Security World uses national U.L. equipment and you can call other companies for service and monitoring; and there is no programming lockout! Brinks and other companies install equipment that has a lockout and only they can service it. You would not buy a car that would allow you to only buy gas from one station.

Monitoring Stations Equipment

Monitoring Station Electrical Power
The monitoring station is U.L. listed and has reserve batteries and reserve generators so it can operate without electricity. Hurricane Ike did not stop Security World’s monitoring station from performing.

Monitoring Station Computers
Your security system in your location is a small computer that sends a signal to the large U.L. listed computers in the monitoring station. Trained operators respond in seconds and the monitoring station computer dials your location and the operator asks if it is a false alarm or the police need to be called. Every monitoring station computer has a backup computer to take over if the first one fails.

Communication Alternatives Daily Test Signals To Monitoring Station
If you want to ensure your security system is communicating every day, you can have a test signal sent to the monitoring station every day. You will be called if the test signal is not received. This is good if you take long vacations or trips where home is empty. (Additional monthly fee $2)

Long-Range Radio If Telephone Line Is Cut
If you want communication in case a burglar cuts your telephone line, you can have a long-range radio send a signal to our monitoring station. The radio tests itself weekly (silently). (Additional monthly fee $14) Considering Disconnecting Your Land Telephone And Using Cell Phone Only? Your security system uses your land phone and cannot communicate via your cell phone. You have two communication options. One is to communicate via the Internet, which we will discuss in the next paragraph. The other option is to communicate via a cell radio attached to your security system. The cell radio is the most reliable because it will operate when your home loses electricity and when your Internet stops operating.

Using The Internet Telephone To Send An Alarm Signal To A Monitoring Station
Certain security system control panels and communicators will communicate over the Internet to monitoring stations. This is faster communication than the telephone, but it is less reliable. If your home or business loses electricity, your Internet will die and you’ll have no security system communications. If Internet is temporarily disrupted in your area or city, your security system will not have security system communication. In that unfailing communication is essential to stop crime, we do not recommend Internet communication, but we can provide if you want it.

Medical Two-Way Voice
You can have a medical panic button that will send a signal to the monitoring station in an emergency and the monitoring station will talk to you through loudspeaker in your home if you can’t get to the telephone. More information available in medical monitoring area.

Open & Close Supervision Monitoring
Some businesses are worried that an employee may not turn on the security system when they lock up the business at closing time. Some businesses are worried that an employee with keys and security system code may return late at night and enter the business and steal something from the business. Open and close supervision monitoring is where the security system is programmed to send a signal every time the system is turned on or off. The monitoring station computer is programmed to watch for these signals based on information from the business when the business normally should close and open. The monitoring station computer also keeps track of which employee code was used each time. If an employee returns after hours, the monitoring station computer will call the business management and notify the person who and what code was used and at what time the security system was turned off when it should be turned on. More information is available in business area of this website. (Additional monthly fee)
